Hello again!
I wanted to talk to you all about a very interesting project I have been working on in school. I am a student in AICE media studies and we got assigned a project about music marketing and brand development. We were given a list of songs from a certain genre (alternative music) and we had to market and develop a brand for our artist. The most difficult part was the planning and brainstorming ideas. We started with the brainstorming aspect of the project. We all shared a word document and each wrote down some ideas to best market and promote our brand through a music video. We had to put a lot of thought and detail into our ideas and think about the target audience and how we would market to them. We also had to think about what would interest them so that our video could be a good way to draw them in to our artist. Here is a picture of our idea page where we all wrote our ideas for the video.
We though about ideas for EACH part of the song. We carefully picked ideas for specific parts of the song so that the story would. be understandable. After we though about the plan for the music video, we had to think how we would market to the audience. We already knew the target audience so it was easier to think about ideas for the different generations to listen to. CD's, streaming, radio, and so much more. We made a schedule or checklist to better organize ourselves on what we would have to do. When we finished brainstorming ideas for our video and our marketing strategy, we chose a name. We chose the name "RedSkyz". Our name was very important in the aspect that it would determine our whole brand. Our colors, the way people pictured us, and even the way people looked at us. We started storyboarding how our video would look and making a shot list.. We set our dates to shoot our footage and continued with the schedule. Here is a picture of our storyboard and our shot list.
We split up the work evenly and I got the opportunity to create a website. I am creating a website to advertise with general information on the band and information on upcoming concerts. My website is also being used to market with merchandise including hoodies, t-shirts, tote bags, water bottles, CD's, vinyls, mugs, phone cases, pins, posters, and most popularly hats. This part has been super fun and I love creating things like this. Here is an example of one of our merchandises from the website:
It isn't finished yet but I am planning on having a lot more merchandise on the website including the things I listed above. We have finished filming the project and one of my group members are editing it but we still have a few things left to do. Most of this project has been work but now its time to sit back and enjoy the work we created.
I can't wait to finish this project and show our classmates how our hard-work turned out!
